Short Term Health Insurance in Connecticut

In Connecticut, short-term health insurance coverage can last no longer than six months. In addition, renewals on short-term health insurance plans are prohibited. All short-term health insurance plans must cover essential benefits such as mental health care, prescription drugs, and maternity care. Because the requirements are so significant, no insurance company currently offers short-term health insurance plans in the state. 

Low Income Health Insurance in Connecticut

Medicaid, which has been expanded to Connecticut, is available for low-income individuals in the state. To qualify, applicants must be a resident of the state of Connecticut, a US national, citizen, permanent resident, or legal alien, in need of health care/insurance assistance, whose financial situation would be characterized as low income or very low income. In addition, applicants must be pregnant or responsible for a child 18 years of age or younger, blind, have a disability or live with a family member with a disability, or be 65 years of age or older.
